With Memorial Day right around the corner, honor our veterans and celebrate their achievements by preparing to spend part of your Memorial Day weekend joining the festivities around southern New Jersey. As proud supporters of our troops, the southern New Jersey movers at Simonik Transportation & Warehousing have compiled a short list of events we believe honor our soldiers.

Be inspired

Ride on over to the Dream Park Equestrian Center for a free screening of “Riding My Way Back.” Directed by Academy Award nominee Robin Fryday and Peter Rosenbaum, this documentary tells the tale of Staff Sergeant Aaron Heliker’s journey to healing. Suffering from a traumatic brain injury, nerve damage and severe PTSD after several deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan, Aaron slowly finds solace and healing with the gentle help of a white horse named Fred. Join others for this inspirational story May 25 from 1pm to 4pm.

Fun and support

Come to the Silver Diner in Cherry Hill for the annual Memorial Day Breakfast Car Show on May 25 from 8am to noon. Enter your car for $20 or browse as an attendee for free! See vintage and modern automobiles, trucks and corvettes and see which cars win any one of the thirteen trophies available. All proceeds from the Memorial Day Breakfast Care Show will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. Support your troops and have fun with cars Memorial Day morning!

Never forget

Honor veterans from World War II by visiting the South Jersey Museum of American History in Glassboro. All throughout the month of May, the museum will exhibit memories and items from soldiers during the war. See weapons, equipment, uniforms, flags, and both Allied and Axis coinage. Take time to remember our fallen heroes while at the same time learning about our history.

Celebrate!
Bring your friends and family together to celebrate our veterans and their achievements! Several parades and events will be held throughout South Jersey so be sure to take the time to search online for your nearest one! Whether you’re celebrating Sunday at the Veterans Memorial Park in Oak Valley with hot air balloons and a barbeque or going big with a full parade of firetrucks, marching bands, a 21-gun salute and of course flag-raising like the Medford parade, make sure to take the time to thank your local veterans!
